All the lemons on the branch already know that our Festival is a real nursery of young filmmakers, and one of the yellow tasks of organizing the Festival is making its trailer. This year, the author of the Festival trailer is a young artist from Cinema Club Karlovac, Gabriela Prpić. Gabi has been painting since she was a child, and her art work most often depicts landscapes and animals. She is also a member of the Karlovac Arts Association. At the end of her primary school education, she came to her first animation workshop in the Karlovac High School Video Association and the Cinema Club Karlovac and clicked with animation instantly, and today she is studying 3D modeling at Algebra University. She actively films and photographs at the Cinema Club, but she prefers animation, and her most successful work is The Black Cat, a video trailer for Edgar Allan Poe’s short story, which she made using the stop-motion animation technique with coffee.
“The idea was to combine film, lemons – the very theme of the festival, and the rivers of Karlovac through fluidity and metamorphoses that can be animated. I made a rough storyboard which I followed while making the black-and-white sketches for the trailer, which I colored and animated in Adobe Photoshop, and finally added sound in Adobe Premiere.”, Gabriela revealed the small secrets of the trailer production.
